Applications are handled by the City of Erie Human Resources Office and are only open once every two years. There is an application fee and a study guide fee, which are both payable online. To apply in person at the Human Resources Office at City Hall, bring your high school diploma/GED, or equivalent; valid driver's license; birth certificate; and DD-214 form (if applicable) to:

Applicants must pass the Fire Police Select Incorporated (FPSI) written test and Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT). Military service time is the only qualifier for additional points to the written test. For more information about the tests and test dates, visit: efd.erie.pa.us/test
