- Payments can be made weekly, fortnightly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annually, depending on your needs.
- Standing orders can be created, amended and cancelled using Online Banking, over the phone with a customer service adviser or in writing via your branch. Standing Orders can also be amended and cancelled on Mobile Banking. Please note you will need a Card reader to complete this transaction
- You can lodge cleared funds to your account up to 2pm* to cover any standing orders due that day.
*12pm on Christmas Eve, provided it is a Banking day.
- You control the amount and date of the payment and the Bank processes the transaction on your behalf.
- A standing order means you don't have to worry about missing your regular payment dates - your standing order will automatically be sent on the specified date.
CHAPS payments service
Clearing House Automated Payment System (CHAPS) is an electronic transfer system for sending Sterling payments within the UK on a same day value basis. This payment is normally used for high value transactions and has the ability to include additional information with the payment e.g. an address in the case of conveyance payments.
Outgoing payments for same day value can be made up until 16.00 in branch or up to 17:25 using iBB, on banking days only. Incoming payments can be received until 18:20.
There is a cost for making and receiving a CHAPS payment. For more details, please refer to the price list for personal customers, business customers and iBB customers.
- The name and address of the Payee;
- The sort code and account number of the account to which the funds are to be transferred;
- The date and amount of the payment;
- A meaningful Reference so that the Payee can identify you; and
- Your permission in line with the Mandate for the Account from which the payment is to be taken. If you are making a CHAPS payment in branch you give your permission by signing an instruction form.

The Terms and Conditions applicable for a CHAPS payment are found within the Terms and Conditions document applicable to your personal account or business account.
